The first trailer for Fast X has arrived, giving fans a glimpse at the penultimate installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. Directed by Louis Leterrier, it stars Vin Diesel and a host of new additions.
The film will focus on Dominic Toretto (Diesel) as he struggles to build his family after the death of his son Brian. The film also introduces newcomers Jason Momoa and Brie Larson.
Dominic Toretto
Fast X director Jean-Claude Leterrier is looking to bring the action back to earth for this sequel, with a lot of focus on Dom Toretto’s family. Vin Diesel’s Dominic is living a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son Brian, but he knows there are always dangers lurking just over the horizon.
The trailer opens with an old-fashioned street race where Dominic challenges Dante to a race, which he accepts. The trailer then flashes back to 1989, during the last stock car race of the season.
During the race, Dominic’s father Jack Toretto is killed by rival racer Kenny Linder, who runs him off the track. Dom and Jakob are present at the scene, but Dominic is unable to save his father. He later sees his dead father’s Charger in the garage.
Letty Ortiz
After spending some time in space (where you’ll learn more about that later), Fast X director Patrick Leterrier takes the action back to its old-school roots with a flashback street race and villain plan. It’s a smart choice for the film, as it makes Dom Toretto and his family’s enemies seem more human and relatable than ever.
When Dominic Toretto and his team are offered amnesty by Luke Hobbs in exchange for taking down a skilled mercenary organization led by Owen Shaw, they agree. But when Letty Ortiz, Dominic’s former love interest, is kidnapped and enlisted by Shaw to help him, Dom becomes even more determined to save her.
Jakob Toretto
Dom’s younger brother Jakob Toretto (John Cena) is a master thief, assassin and high-performance driver. He’s also an agent of Cipher, the villain in Fast & Furious 9.
The trailer reveals that Paul Walker’s character is back in the Toretto family’s past, as he swears vengeance against Dominic for killing his father. Then we see that he’s in a 1966 Charger, which he recognizes as “Buddy’s old Charger.”
After this flashback scene, Dom and Letty are at the race track. They argue with Jack’s Pit Crew, who are trying to dirty their father’s name and get him banned from the track.

Cipher
Louis Leterrier, director of action-thrillers Transporter 2 (2005), Clash of the Titans (2010) and Now You See Me (2013), returns to the Fast franchise for this next installment. After watching F9 take the action to space (literally), he wanted to bring it back to the franchise’s more grounded roots — the streets.
Cipher, played by Charlize Theron, is Dominic’s latest adversary. She teams up with Dante (Jason Momoa) to take down Dom and his family.
A lone female racer who is also a thief, she’s full of schemes and belongs to a villainous family. She turns Dominic against them. The trailer features a fight between Cipher and Letty Ortiz that teases an epic showdown.
Deckard Shaw
After seeing F9 take the series to space and bring it back to earth, Fast X director Louis Leterrier wanted to return to the franchise’s roots. That’s why the Fast X trailer starts with Dom challenging Dante to a street race.
The two compete in a head-to-head race, with Dom beating Dante by more than 20 seconds. After the fight, Dom reminisces about how they used to ‘race for respect’ in the early days of the franchise.
He’s now joined by Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) to protect Hattie Shaw, who is being hunted by cyber-genetically enhanced terrorist Brixton Lore (Idris Elba). As they battle against the terrorists, Deckard reveals that he faked Han’s death to protect Elle and Project Aries. He then vows vengeance against Dominic and his family.
