Fantasy Managers are faced with a busy period in the Premier League, and it’s time to assess their options. But with so many transfers and limited free moves available, it can be difficult to decide which ones are ideal.

1. Look at the fixtures
Early in the season, it can be tempting to wildcard, but be sure to assess your fixtures and decide if now is an appropriate time. Wildcarding can be an excellent opportunity to shuffle up your squad and select some key players for the remainder of the season, especially if you’ve had some tough weeks.
Take advantage of the fixture swings in GW4 and GW5. Teams like Villa, Liverpool, Manchester City and Everton all have favorable opening fixtures.
When playing the wildcard, it’s best to do so around GW3 or GW4. This gives you a chance to evaluate which players have started the season well and which ones need improvement. Utilizing your wildcard during this period can be an excellent opportunity to spruce up your team and gain valuable points.

2. Don’t go overboard on new arrivals
An FPL of more than one or two isn’t for the weak of heart and can be a daunting challenge to climb to the top without falling off. For many unlucky or inexperienced individuals, getting in and out without incident is no small feat. To make things easier, find experienced professionals who can guide you through the process – hopefully without having to evict a roommate in order to make it work!
3. Don’t fill your team with multiple assets over 10m
FPL managers sometimes tend to overbuild their squad with too many high-end assets. While having key players is important, having too many assets could leave you short on cash before your season ends. To prevent this from happening, try using a budgeting app and make sure each dollar goes where it belongs – like towards player expenses!
It is beneficial to have an overall strategy for your investment plan. Doing so can help you better allocate assets and maximize returns. For instance, a $10 million portfolio might benefit from having a small percentage invested in growth stocks, as well as more secure investments like bonds or cash.
4. Don’t captain heavy hitters
Although it can be tempting to pick a leftfield captain, it’s worth remembering that players have ups and downs. Even experienced attackers like Mohamed Salah last season, can falter at inopportune moments.
Many FPL managers strive to capitalize on these points by chasing them, but that can backfire if they attempt to jump the gun and acquire team value quickly. Instead of risking this, wait for your squad members to return to their usual levels of reliability. In the long run, this could result in less points lost and greater value for your squad overall; additionally, you won’t miss out on crucial goals or assists that could make all the difference in a game.
5. Be patient
It’s almost never worth using the wildcard unless you have a compelling reason to drop one or more early-season players. After all, it’s highly likely you won’t be able to repurchase them at their current value, so waiting until later in the season may be more advantageous.
When your Wildcard needs energy or time, it’s essential to consider their priorities and what else is on their plate. For instance, if a multi-stack engineer is working tirelessly on fixing an outdated demo two hours before a customer conference begins, you may discover they haven’t finished any other assigned work for that day yet.
